The LEGO Ferrari F8 Tributo in the Speed Champions series is a breath of fresh air compared to the earlier reviewed 2019 McLaren Senna for example. LEGO upgraded the 2020 line of Speed Champions quite a bit by making them wider. This accomplishes one major thing. They can actually make the cars look like the models they should resemble. And I think this makes all the difference in the world!

The minifigure in this set is a pretty standard yellow-faced guy with some light facial hair and two faces. But when you can afford a Ferrari F8 Tributo I would not put on another face than the happy, smiley one. Why should I?
The color combination with the brown jacket and the dark blue pants are great (I’m a fan of this combo as you can tell from Star Wars’ Finn). The minifigure has a standard black racing helmet and also a hairpiece.
I’m not sure why you would use the hairpiece in this particular set as the car isn’t really suited to display without the windscreen. You might use the minifigure with hair to put into your Lego City for display purposes only I guess.
The Build & Features
Building this set was already a lot more fun and the model feels a lot more solid than the 2019 line. Although there are still some fiddly parts they can’t seem to get rid of. Especially when you are adding bricks to the bottom part of the car before building up. It takes a while to strengthen some sections.
Because this model is now 8 studs wide instead of 6 LEGO was able to get a better look and feel all around the car making it actually look like the Ferrari F8. I felt like the McLaren Senna did not resemble the real deal that much.
The back, as well as the front, looks like a proper Ferrari F8 Tributo and the tiles and build feels smooth and solid. This set actually has side mirrors which only enhances the look of the car.
LEGO did put a few stickers on the Ferrari F8 Tributo but nothing too fancy. Unfortunately, the “main sticker”, if I can call it that, has a slightly different red color than the bricks. Other than that I don’t have too many issues in the sticker department.
There also are two 1×1 plates that have a Ferrari logo printed on them. Now I can imagine these spots are way too small to put any stickers on so that’s a nice touch. The windscreen is also printed, which is awesome!
The interior is spacious and has an extra shotgun spot. It even has a nice stickered middle console. And to top it all off the LEGO Ferrari F8 Tributo has an extra set of rims to change things up a bit.
LEGO did an excellent job upgrading the Speed Champions series in 2020 when they added an extra two studs to widen the model. There are so many more ways now to design an actual model of an existing car. The LEGO Ferrari F8 Tributo is a tribute (pun intended) to that. It’s tiled off really nicely and the build feels a lot more robust than it’s 2019 counterparts.
The colors are excellent (It’s a Ferrari and red is cool) and I really liked what they’ve done with the front and the back of the design. It just looks amazing. Like an actual little Ferrari, you can either display or just play around with.
