LEGO has revealed some of the new Star Wars sets for 2021 on their website including the original trilogy X-Wing (75301) and Tie Fighter (75300) as well as the Trouble on Tatooine set (75299) from The Mandalorian.
Some of these sets I really like and some of them are slightly disappointing in my opinion. The X-Wing and the Tie Fighter are actually quite good! Which is a welcome surprise. Of course, LEGO continues to create bigger sets, but them actually doing some iconic sets in a cheaper price range and actually making them look pretty darn accurate is great!
In these sets, you will also get quite some minifigures as well which make these even better. The X-Wing has Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, General Dodonna, and R2D2. The Tie Fighter contains a Tie Fighter Pilot, a Stormtrooper, and a NI-L8 Protocol Droid.
The Trouble on Tatooine set I personally don’t care for that much. I think it will do well with kids though because of its playability, but for an AFOL like me, it doesn’t appeal to me enough. I do like the fact that Mando wears his full Beskar armor. And because this is currently the only set the “upgraded” Mando is in, it will probably be popular just because of that.
The Millennium Falcon Microfighter (75295) however, is one we’ve seen before. It’s the original trilogy falcon (it has the round satellite dish) and Han Solo as a minifigure, but I believe this is the third (!) Millennium Falcon microfighter on the market already. One being the Falcon with Chewbacca. And the design hasn’t changed much.
The LEGO Star Wars 2021 Sets are a bit of a mixed bag for me personally as you can read. I do like the original trilogy ships a lot though. I’m also hoping for some cool Star Wars sets later next year, but knowing LEGO they should have us covered.
