The LEGO First Order TIE Fighter Microfighter (try saying that three times in a row real quick), belongs to the Series 5 of which I will have another review up soon as well. These little builds are really growing on me. They are fun to build, good to display, and normally not too expensive.

So how does the First Order TIE Fighter compare to other Microfighters like Kylo Ren’s Shuttle and the Naboo Starfighter?

Minifigure
As always we’ll have a look at the minifigure. The First Order TIE Fighter Pilot is the same as the one you get with the Sith TIE Fighter. This minifigure looks very good. Especially with the tube or coming out of the helmet and going back into the body. It’s really well done.

Unfortunately, I got this set second hand and I noticed (a bit too late) the legs don’t have any print on them. And they should have. So that’s a bit unfortunate, but nothing sites like bricklink can’t fix for me. In any case, the black with the silver details look very good and you can’t go wrong with a minifigure like this.
The Build & Features
Building the First Order TIE Fighter was ok. It’s pretty straight forward and to be perfectly honest there are no major things that stand out.
There are also no major things that are sub-par. Don’t get me wrong, the model and build are fine. It’s just not that exciting as other Microfighters.

The cockpit piece is really nice though. It’s clear red and it fully printed. Also, the red details weaved into the build give it a nice change of color instead of the majority of black.

As far as play features go, LEGO added two flick-fire missiles just below the cockpit and are actually pretty well-integrated as you can’t really see they are there when looking at the model from the front.

My Thoughts
The First Order TIE Fighter Microfighter is an ok Microfighter in my opinion. It’s not bad by any means, but there are more fun Microfighters to be built. That being said, it definitely has some redeeming qualities. The minifigure is cool, the cockpit is very nice and fully printed. And the extra tint of red does make it stand out a bit more. It is a welcome addition to my collection anyway. More to come soon.

Pros:
- Printed clear red cockpit
- Splash of red color makes it stand out
- Minifigure
- Flick-fire missiles are well integrated
Cons:
- Run of the mill build
- Lacks excitement compared to other Microfighters
