Lego Star Wars Sith Infiltrator Microfighter (75224) Review

The LEGO Sith Infiltrator Microfighter belongs to the series 6 just like the Naboo Starfighter Microfighter. It is not often that I blatantly say I don’t like a LEGO set but the Sith Infiltrator doesn’t do it for me in a lot of ways.

Minifigure

The minifigure you get with the LEGO Sith Infiltrator microfighter is of course Darth Maul. Maul is a great character in the Star Wars universe and lore, but as I minifigure I think he falls a bit short. I love the face markings on his head. Those are awesome. So that’s good!

But that’s about it in my opinion. The piece on top of his head that resembles his horns is just a weird piece and looks equally awkward. LEGO should’ve just painted the top of his head red and adding painted horns wouldn’t have been the worst thing either.

Better yet, a complete separate head mold would have made all the difference and I’m not sure why LEGO didn’t go for that option. They’ve done it with multiple other, way less popular, characters as well. I think this is a huge missed opportunity to make one of the most beloved Star Wars characters truly awesome.

Darth Maul also has his trusted double-bladed lightsaber.

The Build & Features

The LEGO Sith Infiltrator set has two bags and an instruction manual as per usual. Building the Infiltrator is not very original and LEGO couldn’t manage to get the round cockpit into this set, unfortunately. The round cockpit together with the foldable wings is the most iconic part of the ship and failing to deliver one of those things makes it not look like the actual ship.

I am well aware that Darth Maul should have a place to sit as all microfighters have this. And maybe this ship’s only spot to do that in is in the part that should’ve been round. I get that. On the other hand, the ship doesn’t look like the ship anymore. Maybe LEGO would’ve been better off not creating a Sith Infiltrator Microfighter in the first place.

Anyway, it’s here now and this is what we get. I just don’t like it a lot. The partially folding wings I do like by the way. Those are awesome and give the ship at least the idea of an Infiltrator. Come to think about it, I also don’t like the front. I feel like it drops off horizontally way too early.

The two stud shooters are a good fit in this particular craft.

My Thoughts

The LEGO Sith Infiltrator and it’s minifigure fall short in multiple ways. I don’t like Maul’s headpiece, I don’t like the ship’s overall build and I don’t like the design. There are some redeemable features, but the overall feeling I get is average at best.

LEGO Sith Infiltrator

Maybe LEGO should have designed this differently. Maybe they shouldn’t have done this set at all. Luckily this is a Microfighter and these aren’t that expensive. Also, if you are looking for this particular Dart Maul minifigrue, this is the set to get him in cheap.

Oof! This kind of hurt. You win some, you lose some I guess. At least I like how the images turned out 😀 On to the next one!

Pros:

  • Darth Maul’s face markings
  • Folding wings

Cons:

  • Darth Maul’s headpiece looks weird
  • Not the most original build
  • The iconic round cockpit is not there
